Land Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that I reside and operate on Treaty 6 Territory. I pay my respects to the many indigenous peoples of this place, Nêhiyawak (Plains Cree), Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwa), Nahkawininiwak (Salteaux), Nakota (Assiniboine), Dakota and Lakota (Sioux), Denesuline (Dene/Chipewyan) and Metis. I reaffirm and honor my relationship to the land, waters and the sky as a place that has nurtured and taught our ancestors and First Nations peoples for millennia. Following the spirit of reciprocity taught to us

by great grandmother (land) and grandfather (sky),

I renew my commitment to sharing this space in a good way for all our children.

I believe in the seven sacred teachings of honesty, courage, wisdom, respect, truth love and humility and strive to always treat others with these teachings in mind.

Why I StartedCoaching

After years of my own healing and trauma therapy, I became part of the Critical Incident Stress Management team in Saskatchewan for Volunteer Firefighters. Helping others process traumatic incidents is a challenging but rewarding process and I wanted to continue helping others after leaving the fire service. Being an artist with skills in mental health mitigation, I put the two together and trained to become a therapeutic arts practitioner. Please be aware that I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist and this is a complimentary form of treatment. If you have severe symptoms from trauma or mental health injury/illness, please seek medical assistance.

This is an image of the Ness Creek Valley, Saskatchewan surrounded by tall grasses and a forest. Some conifer and other desiduous trees create a patchwork scene. This photo has an image of the Creating Peace logo applied to the centre, the white logo is of a tree shaped into a C curve to represent the winds of change.

My Story

I grew up in central Alberta and left the family home at a young age to start a life of my own. Living with unresolved trauma meant always having to find ways to cope with difficult emotions on my own. Not having the tools to build a healthy self esteem, self care was set aside while taking care of others for most of my adult life, meanwhile enduring other traumatic events by being in an unhealthy relationship as well as sudden traumas and complex stress.

It wasn't until attending a seminar on Understanding Trauma that I realized I too was suffering from decades of unresolved trauma.

This was the start of my healing journey as well as the beginning of my passion for helping others with their own mental health issues.

I recognized early on that art became my meditation, even in childhood. As time went on, art and mindfulness became an integral part of my existence leading me to

therapeutic arts.

Using EMDR & Hypnosis, somatics, guided meditation, art, dance and music I have created my own peace and would like to help you create yours.

This image is of a large rock face with a cave in the bottom. A river flows through the cave to an unknown destination. There is a small tree growing from the rocks on the ground beside the river and some green plant life living in the bottom left hand corner with the river flowing from the bottom right hand corner into the centre.

Success Stories

NIK_8114 copy.jpg

I was suffering from unresolved trauma that effected myself and my family for decades. I turned to alcohol as a way to numb but have found peace with using the techniques I learned with Creating Peace Therapeutic Arts. I have used these techniques to  help me quit drinking and find myself again, and I will continue to use them to maintain that peace.
